Message While their primary purpose seems to be allowing max airflow and adding additional protection against the pipes collapsing, the polished hard pipes add a custom/finished look to your engine bay. However, my question is that if you introduce a metal which is susceptible to heat soak to the intake side, that in essence, it is self defeating. You sacrifice fashion over function. Am I way off base here? I would think the reinforced silicone or the OEM insulated plastic pipes would then be more "efficient" for the transfer of cool air to the intake side.
